AWS makes OpenAI's GPT-6.1 Terra generally available on Amazon Bedrock

Amazon Web Services said on 26 October 2026 that OpenAI's GPT-6.1 Terra is generally available on Amazon Bedrock. AWS says the model accepts text and image inputs and supports a context window of up to 1 million input tokens. It says input and output token prices are at least 50% lower than those of GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-5.6 Terra. On OpenAI's Agents' Last Exam evaluation, AWS says Terra scored 15 percentage points higher than GPT-5.6 Terra, performed on par with GPT-6 Astra, and completed tasks more than three times faster than GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol.

Amazon Web Services said on 26 October 2026 that OpenAI's GPT-6.1 Terra is generally available on Amazon Bedrock. AWS says the model accepts text and image inputs and supports a context window of up to 1 million input tokens.

OpenAI's introduction page does not print a publication date. It says GPT-6.1 Terra is available "starting today" to Plus, Pro, Enterprise and Edu users in ChatGPT Work and Codex, and in the API as gpt-6.1-terra. It says standard API pricing is $1 per million input tokens, $0.05 per million cached input tokens, and $5 per million output tokens, and that those prices are 50% lower than those of GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-6.1 Sol. It says the model meets the Critical threshold in cybersecurity under OpenAI's Preparedness Framework. On an internal benchmark of error-inducing prompts, it says the error rate at low reasoning effort fell from 53.6% with GPT-5.6 Terra to 16.7% with GPT-6.1 Terra, and that at maximum effort the error rate fell by 18 percentage points to 4.3%.

What it means for business: a firm that uses Amazon Bedrock, ChatGPT Work, Codex or the OpenAI API can call this model. OpenAI rates it Critical for cybersecurity under its own framework. Computer-use features can act in other software, so access and logging should be checked before the model is pointed at business systems.
