OpenAI frontier models are coming to Google Cloud's Model Garden

OpenAI said on 21 October 2026 that it is partnering with Google Cloud to bring OpenAI's frontier models and Codex agentic workflows into Google Cloud's Model Garden. Customers will be able to buy the models through the Google Cloud Marketplace, and enterprises with Google Cloud spend commitments will be able to draw those commitments down for the purchases. OpenAI says the models will soon be available in Google Antigravity and the Gemini Agent. It says general availability is planned in the coming weeks, and that Microsoft remains OpenAI's primary cloud partner. The OpenAI post does not name individual models.

Google Cloud's post the same day says GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Luna are rolling out in private preview to select enterprise customers. It describes Astra as for demanding work across coding, computer use, professional tasks and scientific research; Sol as near-Astra intelligence at lower cost; and Luna as a fast, cost-efficient model for everyday work. Google says prompts, context and outputs remain inside the customer's designated data perimeter and are never used to train foundation models, with Zero Data Retention options available coming soon. It also says Confidential Compute is coming soon, and that the models run on dedicated Google Cloud infrastructure.

What it means for business: a firm that already buys through Google Cloud will be able to reach these OpenAI models on that bill, first in a private preview. Contract, data-residency and training terms should be read on the cloud agreement. General availability does not have a date beyond "the coming weeks".
