Morocco's new government gives artificial intelligence its own ministerial title
16 Oct 2026 · added 19 Oct 2026
King Mohammed VI appointed Morocco's new government, led by Head of Government Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, at the Royal Palace in Rabat on 16 October. The official list of members includes Ahmed Rahhou as Minister of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Transformation and Administration Reform, with Aïcha Guellaa as Minister Delegate in charge of Administration Reform. As reported by Le360, the new title expands the digital transformation and administration reform portfolio previously held by Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni. Le360 says Mr Rahhou, who had been president of Morocco's Competition Council since 2021, inherits work begun under his predecessor, including plans for a framework law governing artificial intelligence, which has yet to be completed.
What it means for business: Morocco now has a minister with artificial intelligence named in their portfolio; companies operating there may want to watch for the planned AI framework law, which Le360 says has yet to be completed.
