The UK AI minister said the government had worked with the US to keep the AI Security Institute's access to the most powerful models before release, after reports in September that the White House had asked labs to hold models back. He said the UK would look at how serious AI incidents can be identified and reported through the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill, and warned a breach of UK cyber defences is 'likely, if not inevitable'. The Ada Lovelace Institute said there was no new power, timetable or obligation on developers.
What it means for business: no new obligations yet; operators of essential services should watch the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill.
