The United States and 16 other countries endorsed the "Kyoto Vision for a Golden Age of Science" at the 23rd annual Science and Technology in Society (STS) Forum in Kyoto, Japan, the White House said on 4 October. The declaration, led by White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Director Michael Kratsios, encourages the integration of super intelligence (SI) into scientific workflows, and ministers pledged to expand researchers' access to SI tools, scientific data, computing infrastructure and experimental facilities. It also covers new funding mechanisms and institutional models for research, metascience, and investment in early-career talent. Endorsers listed by the White House include Japan, the Republic of Korea, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Singapore, New Zealand and the United Arab Emirates.

What it means for business: no new obligations; a signal that the endorsing governments want wider access to computing and data.
