Canada launches national AI literacy programme

9 Sept 2026 · added 17 Oct 2026

Canada's AI minister launched a National AI Literacy Initiative with the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii), a $13 million partnership offering free courses for post-secondary students, K-12 educators and the public under the AI for All strategy. Canada still has no general AI law.

What it means for business: no new obligations; free training may help firms meet AI-literacy expectations elsewhere, such as under the EU AI Act.
