Anthropic adds EU-required watermark to Claude text and previews detection API

Anthropic said that, as a signatory to the EU code on AI-generated content transparency, it now adds an invisible watermark to text from models released after 2 August 2026, and is offering a detection API in private preview to eligible groups such as regulators and fact-checkers.

What it means for business: an early example of how providers are meeting Article 50 marking duties.
