Brazil's AI bill rapporteur targets a vote after the October elections

24 Aug 2026 · added 17 Oct 2026

The Chamber of Deputies rapporteur for PL 2338/2023, Brazil's draft AI framework, said at Febraban Tech that he aims to pass the text in the Chamber after the October elections, then send it to the Senate. He said the bill should rest on a risk matrix with extra attention to high-impact uses.

What it means for business: no Brazilian AI law is in force yet; firms with Brazilian operations can keep monitoring, with a vote unlikely before November.
